How it works

Three steps, zero setup

1

Enter the domain

Or paste a robots.txt to test it before publishing.

2

Pick URL and user-agent

Googlebot, Bingbot, GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot or custom.

3

Read the verdict

Allowed or blocked, with the rule that decides it.

A tiny file with a huge impact

One wrong line in robots.txt can block crawling of your entire site, or shut out exactly the AI crawlers that feed ChatGPT and Perplexity. The tester applies Google's rules: the longest matching rule wins and, on a tie, Allow beats Disallow.

Besides the verdict for the selected user-agent, a table shows what the main search and AI bots can see, and syntax problems are flagged. In the Generate tab you can build a new file with your AI bot policy.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

No. Disallow prevents crawling, not indexing: a blocked page can still appear if it gets links. To keep it out use a noindex meta tag (and leave it crawlable).
